Enterprise Architecture Blog Roll

Enterprise architecture blog roll

I'm going to post my personal list of great enterprise architecture blog sites here.

First three cabs off the rank are Nik Malik, Jeff Scott and Tom Graves. Currently these three guys are the thought leaders in the field in my opinion.

I don't always agree with everything that they say but they have certainly shaped my enterprise architecture thinking and impressed me with their continuously developing insight.

Nick Malik's Blog is at blogs.msdn.com/b/nickmalik.

Jeff Scott's blog is at blogs.forrester.com/jeff_scott.

Tom Graves' blog is at http://weblog.tomgraves.org/index.php/category/business/enterprise-architecture/.

I particularly like Tom's work in developing the Enterprise Canvas. The Enterprise canvas is an adaptation / enhancement / variant of Alex Osterwalder's Business Model Canvas (BMC) that was published in his book
Business Model Generation: A Handbook for Visionaries, Game Changers, and Challengers.

Tom has applied the basic principles of the BMC and contextualised it for enterprise architecture. He distinguishes between a business and an enterprise by suggesting that in Osterwalder's approach the business is synonymous with a company and its operations whereas the enterprise includes this business and its context including coutomers and suppliers.

In Tom's words "the enterprise in scope for an enterprise-architecture is larger than the organisation – it needs to include the partners, suppliers, customers, prospects, market and overall ‘ecosystem’ as well as the organisation itself ".
